POLICE STATION & ARMORY, ADDITION AND RENOVATION
Edinburg, Texas

The City of Edinburg (COE) Police Station and Armory Addition & Renovation required joining two existing Public Safety Facilities with a major administrative building addition between them into an expanded 54,610 ft² Police Department operations center. The site planning and design component included secured parking and parking for evidence retrieval.

The south building, an existing National Guard Armory acquired by the city, was converted into storage for weapons, evidence, and SWAT Team armored vehicles. Its additional programming includes a gymnasium with locker room and shower facilities, vehicle maintenance, a break room, officer workrooms, and training rooms.

The north building, an existing police station and municipal court, was converted into a Municipal Court operations and education center containing rooms for training, meeting, and orientation. This structure was demolished to the foundation and steel framing and rebuilt.

The new Police Department Building addition houses the new detention center, police administration, criminal investigation, central records, squad orientation rooms, locker rooms, toilet and shower facilities, break room, communications and dispatch center.
